I have a junk e-mail set up through hotmail and yahoo.  I give those out when I fill out forms or visit some websites.  These two e-mail addresss get all the spam e-mails that the visiting websites said they would keep private and not give out to anyone, cross their hearts and hope to die.

With healthcare reform such a huge topic, the internet is being flooded by companies offering what they say is "low cost" healtcare.

I had 15 such e-mails today alone.  They dont say much, just a link to some sales website.

Before anyone makes a final decision, you have to do your homework.

1)  What benefits are being offered?
2)  What benefits are excluded?
3)  Can I see a specialist?
4)  What are my out of pocket expenses?
5)  How do you pay non-network providers?
6)  What are my rights when benefits are denied?
7)  How much will this cost me?
Cool  Can I be denied coverge for alleged pre-exiting conitions?

Oh, wow! I had no idea these kind of emails are beginning to come out. And yes, it always helps to be an INFORMED consumer. Some people have already dealt with similar situations, and know exactly what to ask and look out for... me, I would probably be among the thousands who would NOT know exactly what questions to ask upfront, because we've been with the same health insurance plan for over 25 years... So, for those in the market for health insurance, it  IS a good post with pointers.
